In New York City:
It felt good to be back on the streets for Palestine yesterday. Thousands came out for a rally in Times Square in response to the brutal Israeli police attack on Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem last week. Organized by American Muslims for Palestine-NJ Chapter and Jewish Voice for Peace, among others, the rally and march featured many Palestinian flags. Speakers spoke of repression, murdered relatives, and the connection between the Israeli treatment of Palestinians and the behavior of U.S. border police toward migrants seeking asylum at the U.S. southern border.VFP's banner got a lot of attention. Jerry Hassett came late with his flag because he was double-dipping--he had been at a rally at the library scheduled for the same time to protest the release of radioactive water into the Pacific and the Hudson River by the Fukushima and Indian Point nuclear power plants, respectively. Go, Jerry!
