PEN (Palestine Education Network) held a vigil this past spring in the center of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, which is heavily trafficked with pedestrians--residents and tourists--and cars. Many of the people we encountered had no idea that Israel limits Palestinians' supply of water.
We gave out flyers explained how much water Israeli settlers receive and that what Palestinians receive is less than what the UN says is necessary for survival.
PEN concluded that we and other pro-Palestinian justice organizations need to do a better job in educating and informing Americans of how the Israeli government uses water as a weapon to control the lives of Palestinians.
