Israel's failure to implement a promised easing of restrictions agreed to after a year of Great March of Return demonstrations precipitated the firing of rockets from the Gaza Strip and Israel's lethal response. There is speculation that Israel may abandon the current truce after the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv.
