Our Year in Review & an Appeal

Friends,

Water is life. That’s why the Alliance for Water Justice in Palestine’s focus doesn’t just resonate with seasoned activists. Many more people have come to understand Palestinian perspectives after learning how Israel uses water as a weapon.

While the world-wide solidarity movement grows stronger, daily life for Palestinians is getting even more difficult.

“Today, due to Israel forbidding repair of the water infrastructure, the massively overcrowded hospitals must reduce the cleaning and sterilizing of medical equipment and facilities… Staff can only wash their hands when it’s essential, not regularly when going from one patient to another.” (Fact #145)

In response, we intensified our efforts in 2019:

We demonstrated. We did our annual standouts (U.N. World Water DayInternational Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian PeopleHarvard Graduation) and organized or participated in other standouts, demonstrations and events. We distributed 1,000s of leaflets and had scores of conversations with people on the street.

We created content. Over 400 people receive our bi-monthly facts by email and many more see them on our FB page. They are easily downloadable from our website so that other groups can use them in their own organizing work.

Our Social Media Presence Grew. Our website has been viewed over 3,000 times; 65% of those visits were from the U.S. and the rest from 89 different countries. We have over 700 friends on our active Facebook page. Nearly 3,000 people and organizations follow us on Twitter, including Democracy Now! which has 700,000 followers.

Our expenses include maintaining our website, updating our resources, printing leaflets and other materials for tabling, and creating compelling banners and signs for standouts.

With your help, we would do more to build the movement for justice for Palestinians both locally and internationally.

Thank you.
